It was a great pleasure to speak at the Grand Edventures Women's Conference on March 29th 2022, at the South County Civic Center in Delray Beach. Florida.  I had a full house and a very attentive, engaging and wonderful audience.

Rancho La Puerta, Mexico was one of my favorite locations to present Aerobics with Soul® It's so good to be featured in their weekly Voices of the Ranch. You can watch the interview here. Use passcode skf7C=8+ to access the recording.

Watch this special program of AFRICA, LET'S TALK, hosted by Collins Kofi Oppong (Mr. Beyond) as he talks with Nhambu about her life, her work, her writing and her amazing resilience.

With her love of African dance, African art, and African culture, she has been an informal ambassador for Africa her entire life.

We’re #AllInThisTogether and finding unique and creative ways to keep some sort of normalcy in our lives.

I’ve been missing my live, in-person Talks, Book Readings and Book Signings. I was very excited to be invited by the Delray Beach Library to be part of their “Live and Local: Authors Read from Home” series.

Enjoy this reading of Chapter One from Africa’s Child, live from my living room!

Stay home and stay safe.

Evening Lecturer at Rancho La Puerta in Tecate, Mexico.

Maria Nhambu has been a presenter of her original Aerobics With Soul® dance program at the Ranch for over 20 years. An educator, dancer, author, mother, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, she prefers to be known simply by her Sukuma name, Nhambu, which means "one who connects" or "bridge person."

She was raised in an orphanage for mixed race children in East Africa. Despite the unimaginable difficulties of her childhood, she embraced dance and her African heritage as a source of strength, hope and survival. This week she will talk about her memoir trilogy -  Africa’s ChildAmerica’s Daughter and Drum Beats, Heart Beats, which tell the story of her heartbreaking yet triumphant journey from an orphanage in Tanzania to the United States. She will also teach her fun dance program, Aerobics With Soul®. View photos from the event here.

Meet The Author Series: Maria Nhambu

Maria Nhambu tells her inspiring story of not only survival, but triumph in Africa’s Child, the story of a mixed-race child growing up in the Usambara Mountains of Tanzania, East Africa. Raised in an orphanage with no knowledge of her origins or family, she endured abandonment, hardships, severe illnesses, and bullying. Her experiences as a child and teenager included physical, emotional and sexual abuse, social stigma, and racial discrimination.

The first book of the trilogy, Africa’s Child, was released in 2016. In America’s Daughter, the second book of the Dancing Soul Trilogy, released earlier this year, the author arrives in the United States in the company of Catherine Murray, an American high-school teacher and in Nhambu’s final book of her memoir series—Drum Beats, Heart Beats—Nhambu reveals more about her life as she searches for her father, which is scheduled for release in 2018. Registration is required by calling  239-252-7542.
